We are on a mission at Project Embrace and that is to create more natural hair images in the public eye - enter ladies and gentlemen, The Project Embrace billboard Campaign. We can hear the claps, thank you.
Many black women have complained that there are not enough positive images of Afro hair in the public eye and at Project Embrace we believe that this is a major contributing factor to the choice many black women make when it comes to how to groom both theirs and their daughter's hair.
We cannot force companies to use models with Afro hair in their campaigns so we decided to organize a campaign by ourselves. A campaign that will show Afro hair as beautiful, a campaign that will raise awareness to the dangerous hair practices prevalent in black communities world wide, a campaign that will address the imbalance within the beauty and fashion industry, a campaign that will give black girls and women a sense of pride in who they are and how they look.
We hope to have a billboard up by October 2014 in a very visible central part of London. Then every year we will hold auditions for models to feature on billboards, that we will take for 3 months every year.

Thank you.
Project Embrace is happy to announce that TV presenter and Entrepreneur Pauline Long has joined us as our ambassador. We say a big thank you and welcome to this great community leader as we show the world there is more than one way to have beautiful hair.
